Updated

The short answer: a snow removal quote should name the property and season, the areas you would clear, two or three priced options, what each option includes, how long the price is good for, and how the client says yes. It's an offer, not the final contract.

The template below lays that out on one page. It's a template to adapt, not legal advice. When a client accepts, move to the snow removal contract template for the full terms.

Quote or contract?

A quote helps a client choose. A contract sets out what happens through the winter, including liability, access and cancellation. This template says plainly that it's a quote, not a contract, and that a signed agreement comes before service starts.

How to set out your options

Two or three options let the client compare your prices with each other, not only with the next operator. A common layout:

Why the valid-until date matters

Your route has limited room, and your costs can change. A valid-until date gives the client a reason to decide, and it stops an old price from coming back in December. Choose a date that gives them a fair chance to compare, and that still leaves you time to plan the route.

How to send the quote

  1. Walk the property, then fill in the areas and options.
  2. Set the valid-until date and download the PDF.
  3. Send it, and follow up once a few days before the date.
  4. When the client accepts, send the contract before the first snowfall.

Questions

What should a snow removal quote include?

Your business details, the client and property, the season dates, the areas covered, the trigger depth, salt or sand, your priced options, what each option includes, payment terms, a valid-until date, and how to accept.

How long should a snow removal quote be valid?

Long enough for the client to compare, and short enough that you can plan your route. Pick a date and write it on the quote. Many operators set a date before the season starts.

Is a quote the same as a contract?

No. This template is an offer that says it is not a contract. Depending on the wording and what happens next, an accepted quote can still create obligations, so use clear wording and sign a full agreement before you start.

Should I show more than one price?

It often helps. Options let the client choose how much risk and service they want, such as a flat seasonal price or a charge for each visit.

Can I add GST/HST to the quote?

The template says prices are before any GST/HST that must be charged. If you are registered, add the tax to your prices or state it clearly. Our GST/HST guide explains when registration applies.

Is this snow removal quote template free?

Yes. Fill it in, preview it on the page, then download the PDF or print it. You do not need an account, and your draft is saved in this browser only.
