Editing client details

Keep your client records accurate and useful by updating names, emails, and notes. You can also view every payment a client has ever made from their detail page.

What you can edit

Each client record has the following editable fields:

  • Name -- the display name for the client. Changing this updates how the client appears everywhere in Biller, including past income entries linked to them.
  • Email -- the client's email address. This is captured automatically from e-Transfer Reply-To headers when available, but you can add or change it at any time.
  • Notes -- a free-text field for your own reference. Use it for business details, preferred contact info, project context, or anything else you want to remember about this client.

How to edit

To edit a client's details:

  1. Navigate to Clients from the main navigation
  2. Click the client you want to update -- this opens their detail page
  3. Click the Edit button
  4. Make your changes and click Save

Changes take effect immediately. If you update a client's name, all income entries associated with that client will display the new name.

Fixing duplicate clients
If the same person appears as two separate clients (e.g. due to a name variation between e-Transfers), edit one client to match the other, then reassign the income entries. This keeps your payment history consolidated under a single client record.

Payment history

The client detail page shows a complete payment history for that client. This includes:

  • Total income -- the sum of all payments from this client (displayed per currency if they've paid in multiple currencies)
  • Payment count -- the total number of income entries linked to this client
  • Transaction list -- every individual payment, sorted by date, showing amount, currency, date, and source (e-Transfer or Manual)

This makes the client page a quick way to answer questions like "How much has Sarah paid me this year?" or "When was the last time I received a payment from this person?"
