Multi-currency support

Biller supports four currencies so you can track income from Canadian and international clients in one place.

Supported currencies

Biller supports the following currencies for income entries:

Currency Code Symbol
Canadian Dollar CAD $
US Dollar USD $
Euro EUR
British Pound GBP £

How currency is set

The currency for an income entry depends on how it was created:

  • e-Transfer income -- always recorded in CAD. Interac e-Transfer is a Canadian payment system, so all parsed amounts are Canadian dollars. This cannot be changed.
  • Manual entries -- you can select any of the four supported currencies when creating or editing the entry. If you don't choose one, Biller uses your default currency.

You can set your default currency in Settings. This determines which currency is pre-selected when you add a manual income entry. Most Canadian micro-business owners leave this set to CAD.

Setting your default currency
If you frequently receive payments in a currency other than CAD, you can change your default currency in Settings. This saves you from selecting it every time you add a manual entry.

Dashboard totals

Your dashboard totals -- including the monthly, quarterly, and yearly summaries -- only include CAD amounts. Mixing currencies without conversion rates would produce misleading numbers.

Income entries in other currencies still appear in your income list and on client pages, but they are excluded from the dashboard summary figures.

For more on how the dashboard works, see Understanding your dashboard.

No automatic currency conversion
Biller does not convert between currencies. If you receive USD $1,000, it is recorded as USD $1,000 -- not as the CAD equivalent. For tax purposes, consult the Bank of Canada exchange rates or your accountant.
