Set up auto-forwarding

Auto-forwarding sends your Interac e-Transfer notification emails to Biller automatically, so every payment is tracked without any manual work.

Gmail

Gmail uses filters to auto-forward specific emails. Here is how to set it up:

  1. Open Gmail on your computer (filters cannot be created from the mobile app)
  2. Click the search options icon (the sliders) in the search bar at the top
  3. In the From field, type notify@payments.interac.ca
  4. Click Create filter at the bottom of the search panel
  5. Check Forward it to: and select your Biller forwarding address (e.g. abc123@income.biller.ca)
  6. If your Biller address is not listed, click Add forwarding address, enter your @income.biller.ca address, and confirm the verification email that Gmail sends
  7. Optionally check Also apply filter to matching conversations to forward older emails that are already in your inbox
  8. Click Create filter to save
Where to find your forwarding address
Your unique @income.biller.ca address is shown during onboarding and in Settings > Profile. See Your forwarding address for details.

Outlook

Outlook (including Hotmail and Live) uses rules to auto-forward emails:

  1. Open Outlook on the web at outlook.live.com (or outlook.office.com for Microsoft 365)
  2. Click the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner
  3. Go to Mail > Rules
  4. Click Add new rule
  5. Name the rule something like Biller - Interac forwarding
  6. Under Add a condition, choose From and enter notify@payments.interac.ca
  7. Under Add an action, choose Forward to and enter your @income.biller.ca address
  8. Click Save to activate the rule

For the Outlook desktop app (Windows), go to Home > Rules > Manage Rules & Alerts and create a similar rule using the same From address and Forward action.

Yahoo / Other

Yahoo Mail:

  1. Click the Settings gear icon, then More Settings
  2. Go to Filters and click Add new filters
  3. Name the filter (e.g. Biller - Interac)
  4. Set the condition to From contains notify@payments.interac.ca
  5. Set the action to Forward to and enter your @income.biller.ca address
  6. Click Save

Other email providers:

The general approach is the same for any email provider that supports filtering and forwarding:

  1. Create a filter or rule that matches emails from notify@payments.interac.ca
  2. Set the action to forward matching emails to your @income.biller.ca address
  3. Some providers may require you to verify the forwarding address first -- check your Biller inbox for a confirmation link if prompted

Verify it works

After setting up your filter or rule, verify that forwarding is working correctly:

  1. Wait for your next Interac e-Transfer, or send yourself a small test transfer from another account
  2. Check your Biller dashboard -- the payment should appear within a few minutes
  3. You will also receive a confirmation email from Biller summarizing the recorded payment

If the payment does not appear, check that your filter is active and that the forwarding address is correct. You can also use the built-in test feature to confirm your setup -- see Send a test email for instructions.

Test your setup right away
You do not have to wait for a real e-Transfer. You can manually forward an existing Interac notification email to your Biller address at any time to confirm that everything is working. See Send a test email for details.
