Your forwarding address

Every Biller account comes with a unique forwarding address. This is where you send your Interac e-Transfer notification emails so Biller can track your income.

What it is

Your forwarding address is a unique email address in the format:

your-token@income.biller.ca

For example, your address might look like k7xm9p@income.biller.ca or r4tn2w@income.biller.ca. Each user gets a different, randomly generated address.

When Biller receives an email at your address, it checks that the email is a valid Interac e-Transfer notification, extracts the payment details, and adds them to your income tracker. Any emails that are not Interac e-Transfer notifications are safely ignored.

Where to find it

You can find your forwarding address in two places:

  • During onboarding -- your address is displayed on the setup screen right after you create your account, with a button to copy it to your clipboard
  • Settings > Profile -- your address is always visible on your profile page, where you can copy it at any time

Your forwarding address never changes unless you explicitly request a reset, so you only need to set up forwarding once.

Copy it to your clipboard
On both the onboarding screen and the Settings page, click the copy button next to your address to copy it to your clipboard. This avoids typos when pasting it into your email provider's forwarding settings.

How it's generated

Your forwarding address uses a randomly generated token as the local part (the portion before the @). This token is:

  • Unique to your account -- no two users share the same address
  • Randomly generated -- it is not based on your name, email, or any personal information
  • Unguessable -- the token is long enough that it cannot be guessed by trial and error

This design means that someone cannot send emails to your Biller account unless they know your exact forwarding address. It acts as a shared secret between you and Biller.

Keeping it private

Your forwarding address should be treated like a password. Here is why:

  • Anyone who knows your address can send emails to your account -- while Biller only processes valid Interac e-Transfer notifications (and verifies DKIM authentication), sharing your address unnecessarily increases your exposure
  • Do not post it publicly -- never share your forwarding address on social media, forums, or public websites
  • Only use it in your email provider's forwarding settings -- the only place your address needs to be entered is in your Gmail filter, Outlook rule, or equivalent auto-forwarding setup

If you believe your forwarding address has been compromised, you can request a new one from Settings > Profile. This will invalidate the old address immediately, and you will need to update your email forwarding rules with the new address.

Treat your forwarding address like a password
Do not share your @income.biller.ca address with anyone. Anyone who knows it could potentially send emails to your account. If you think it has been exposed, reset it immediately from Settings and update your auto-forwarding rules.
